Not a problem. their is a 15-foot cable which attaches the German made amorphous silicon solar panel, you could place it on a roof or further out in the open away from any obstructions to get the maximum benefit from the sun.

This solar powered water fountain is ideal for placement near patios, in flower gardens or as a focal point to a walkway. Roomy enough to allow birds to have a drink. 

The fountain is powered from an integral solar panel which operates in direct sunlight. Simply place on water's surface and adjust the fountain head with the pattern and spray desired. Three different fountain heads come with the unit to a maximum fountain height up to 12".

Build your own outdoor fountain

If you don't have a pond, you can still enjoy the soothing sounds of a fountain by building your own water fountain. It is easier than you think.

You can use a half barrel or similar sized basin large enough to accommodate the spray. The lily holding the fountain is made of durable, lightweight resin for weather and UV resistance. Just fill it with water and place the solar fountain in the middle.

The ideas you can use from your own backyard and limitless. You could use an old wheel barrel and line it with plastic so the water doesn't leek out. This would look good under a tree by the garden.
